R was a Sahabi (Companion of Muhammad S). He was a nephew of Muhammad S.

His father Sufyan bin ĎAbdul Asad was a cousin of Muhammad
S.

bin Hilal, the grandfather of Habbar bin Sufyan
R was married to Barrah bint ĎAbdul Muttalib, an aunt of Muhammad S.

Habbar bin Sufyan
R was from Banu (Family of) Makhzum, a famous clan of the Quraysh tribe.

His uncle ĎAbdullah bin ĎAbdul Asad R, better known as Abu Salamah R, achieved Shahadah (Martyrdom) in the year 4H (Hijrah). He succumbed to the injuries he received in the battle of Uhud.

R was also nursed by Thaubiyah, who had nursed Muhammad S for the first few days of his life.

R was an early convert to Islam.


These early Muslims were tortured by the Quraysh for leaving their old religion.

Habbar bin Sufyan R had a brother named ĎAbdullah bin Sufyan R.
ĎAbdullah bin Sufyan R was also among the as-Sabiqin al-Awwalin (Early Muslims).
Muhammad S allowed the Muslims to migrate to Habash (Ethiopia), which was ruled by a kind hearted Christian king Najjashi (Negus). Najjashi (Negus) welcomed the migrant Muslims to his country and allowed them to stay there as long as they wished.

R and his brother ĎAbdullah bin Sufyan R had also migrated to Habash (Ethiopia) in the year 9BH (Before Hijrah) (613 AD).
